BP Web:

WEBMASTER RESOURCES

Somewhere around thirty District and Council Webmasters sent me notes in the last two weeks, after we made the announcement looking for them. If you know who in your District or Council might be involved in building and maintaining an official or unofficial web site, have them send me a note to Doug@bowline.org or have them subscribe to the list below.

After asking the first 30 what they would like in the way of help, it seemed one easy step to take was forming an email list with that focus.

BP Web will have a tightly focused charter to talk about and support official and unofficial District and Council web sites. We'll urge more general Scouting topics back to bigger lists. Troop and other unit webmasters are welcome, too, but we'll keep pretty focused on the larger organizational issues.

Early replies to my questions seem to point us in the direction of help in interpreting National guidelines when they come, policy questions at the local level, technical issues, and finding support tools for each other (cgis, form handlers, good Web graphics, etc.)

If you know a District or Council webmaster or someone involved in planning or developing a site (or are one yourself) you can join the list.

To subscribe, send an email to

BPWeb@dynapolis.com

and in the Subject field type either:

subscribe or subscribe digest.
