I am a SPL for my troop, and once agin we are returning to Camp Minsi. We vary our camp attendance every year in state and out, and I have to say, they have the best camp food I have ever had. They have had the same cook for 24+ years and she knows how do to her job rite. The program is flexable as well, and I am sure will suit any troop just fine.

I am a 3rd year staff member at minsi and I love it. As a staff we are looking forward to making the 2003 season the best ever. We are mostly full for this summer as of march but we might have one or two openings. our webpage is http://campminsi.tripod.com and if you have any questions please e-mail me at jhay317@rcn.com

Troop 79, Perkasie, PA, attended Camp Minsi for the first time in my memory just last week. The camp was average at best with poorly run program areas and unhappy, unexcited staffers. Trail To Adventure First Year Program offers rank requirement work but no merit badges and believe it or not no swimming merit badge is offered as part of their first year program.

The lake front was the high point of this camp. Staff at the lakefront were outstanding, worked with our first-years to complete swimming merit badge during open swim. Large lake with lots of activities offered.

I've been to five summer camps thus far in my scouting career and this one must be ranked at the bottom. D. Erickson, T79, CC.

My son attended Camp Minsi as a provisional scout last year meaning he went alone. The Camp did an excellent job assigning him to another troop and he had a tremendous experience. The merit badge programs were well run and the staff was extremely helpful and attentive. The best part of the Merit Badge program is that the camp follows the belief that the camp is there for the kids and not the other way around. They do not turn boys away from merit badges, if they have more boys at one area they will reassign staff to ensure that every boy gets the experience and classes that they want. Also the extra curricular programs around the camp that are not directly related to merit badges are fun and entertaining and keep the boys engaged all day and into the evening. Several other camps our troop have attended do not have extra curricular programs and the boys are bored around camp. They also limit the number of boys who can take classes and add age requirements to merit badges that are not part of the BSA program. A particular problem for my son this year since he is on the younger end of his grade level and is left out of what his peers are doing.
