CRITERIA FOR UNIT AWARD: 
	Purpose: The purpose of the Disciples Unit Award of Excellence is to recognize outstanding packs, troops, teams, and posts who promote and employ religious activities in their year-round program. It is designed to help motivate units to become more involved with the "Duty to God" principles of Scouting thereby improving their effectiveness in providing the youth with a top quality program. 
	Recognition: Units that earn the recognition are award a certificate and a ribbon. Individual Scouts may purchase the unit award patch. To qualify for the recognition the unit must accomplish the following:  
1. 	Thirty percent (30%) or more of the registered and eligible youth members of the unit are enrolled in or have completed the appropriate religious emblem program for their age level and religious affiliation. 
2.	The unit conducted two service projects; one for their affiliated Christian Church (DOC) congregation and one for their community. 
3.	The unit regularly provided worship services when away from home. 
4.	the unit participated in Scout Sunday observances with a local congregation during the last year. 
5.	The unit earned the BSA Quality Unit Award in the charter year most recently completed. 
6.	At least once in the last year, the members of the unit have been instructed in the meaning and responsibilities embodied in the "Duty to God" principles of the Cub Scout Promise, Boy Scout Oath and Law, or Explorer Code. 
7.	The minister or qualified pastoral appointee of the unit's affiliated Christian Church (DOC) is a counselor in the God and Country religious emphasis program. 
8.	At least once in the last year the members of the unit have been informed about the God and Country religious emphasis program including its purpose, current requirements, and literature. 
9.	If the unit is a troop or Varsity team, one of the youth members actively served as a Chaplain's Aid during the last year. 
10.	The unit had an adult actively serving as Chaplain during the last year. 
11.	The unit's affiliated Christian Church (DOC) may optionally add criteria 11 if they have a requirement which they believe is essential to the definition of excellence and is necessary for the unit to be recognized.
