Ray A. Garrabrandt, better known as "Zeb," a seventy-seven year Scouting veteran and Scouting benefactor, died July 12, 1992, in Winchester.

Mr. Garrabrandt was the Co-Founder of the Shenshawpotoo Lodge, Order of the Arrow, in 1944, and served as Lodge Advisor for three years. He served in numerous Scouting leadership positions, including Summer Camp Director of Camp White Rock, Camp Tomahawk, and Camp Rock Enon; Scoutmaster of Troop #3 in Winchester; Philmont Scout Ranch Expedition Leader; National Jamboree Contingent Scoutmaster and Jamboree Staff; Shenandoah Area Council Commissioner; and Council Vice President. He served as a member of the Council Executive Board for more than forty years.  An Eagle Scout, Mr. Garrabrandt earned the Scouter's Key and Training Award and his Wood Badge Beads; he was the recipient of the Order of the Arrow Vigil Honor and National Distinguished Service Award, Silver Beaver Award, and Distinguished Eagle Scout Award.  In 1974, "Zeb" Campsite at Camp Rock Enon was named for him, and in 1982, Garrabrandt Lodge was constructed in his honor to house weekend campmasters and summer camp directors. In 1993, the Garrabrandt Scout Museum and Training Conference Area, located on the second floor of The Armstrong Scout Service Center, was named in his memory, because his bequest provided a major portion of the funding for that facility and also much of the initial Scout memorabilia displayed there.
